
A 12-year-old was struck by a vehicle in Lancaster County while attempting to cross the street to board their school bus on Wednesday morning, East Cocalico Township Police Department reports. The incident occurred at the intersection of North Reamstown Road and Bunker Hill Road around 7:00 a.m., as per WHTM. The child was found by officers lying on the pavement but was conscious when emergency services arrived.
Upon arrival, the police noted that the driver involved in the incident had remained on the scene. According to witness accounts, the school bus had its red flashing lights on and its stop sign extended at the time of the collision, suggesting that the necessary precautions for student safety were being followed. "Multiple witnesses told police that the school bus had red flashing lights and a stop sign out at the time of the collision," as reported in a statement obtained by WHTM.
The child sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for care.
