A late-night encounter escalating into a high-speed chase has found its conclusion in an upended vehicle and multiple arrests in King County. According to a detailed account by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department blog, deputies engaged in a pursuit on Monday, following the report of a shooting off State Route 410 in Greenwater.

The incident began around 10:15 p.m. when a victim reported being chased and shot at by suspects in what appeared to be a muscle car, described as a Dodge Charger or Challenger. Responding to the call, deputies crossed paths with the described vehicle and initiated pursuit. The chase led north toward Enumclaw before the suspects' vehicle overturned and landed in a ditch. Driving past him, the first deputy noted a vehicle matching the description and radioed the others to intervene while he assisted the shooting victim.

The situation intensified when the vehicle's occupants emerged and resisted arrest. Deputies noted resistance from one woman who refused to follow instructions. "One woman was not following directions to get on the ground and when deputies tried to detain her she resisted," the Sheriff's Department blog stated. Two women, aged 19 and a 22-year-old man, were involved in the incident, along with the 20-year-old female driver. All were said to seem intoxicated, with an odor of intoxicants on them. The resistant woman was identified as the driver while another woman slipped her handcuffs several times.

After the crash, with the vehicle crawling out and uncooperative, another woman was handcuffed and continued to slip her handcuffs repeatedly until a smaller set could be secured. An unresponsive man from the incident required airlift to the hospital, while the two women were also hospitalized. According to the blog post, the victim had initially approached the suspects' vehicle out of concern. After an unfriendly exchange, "All the occupants started cursing at him and told him to leave so he did. They then chased him and shot at him on SR410," the Sheriff's Department reported.

The Washington State Patrol has since taken over the investigation. With the suspects under arrest, authorities will continue to piece together the events of the night. The rapid response by deputies ensured the accused individuals' apprehension, emphasizing the gravity of the victim's report and the ensuing chase that crossed city bounds from Greenwater into King County.
