The City of Lewisville is attempting to enrich its neighborhoods by hosting a workshop designed to guide residents through various grant opportunities that can assist with home repairs and community enhancements. The event is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Queen Margaret Community Center at 2501 Queen Margaret Drive. No cost is attached to participation, thereby inviting a broad array of locals to discover resourceful means to uplift their living spaces.
According to the City of Lewisville's announcement, several funding sources are available, including the Property Enhancement Program, Love Your Block, and the Neighborhood Enhancement Program. These initiatives are part of a wider vision encapsulated in the Lewisville 2025 plan, which seeks to foster "Diverse and Thriving Neighborhoods." Attendees at the upcoming workshop will be educated on how to navigate the grant application process and made aware of other resources spanning countywide.
The Property Enhancement Program provides a financial grant rebate to support exterior home repairs for residents. Approved individuals can expect a 50 percent matching grant rebate, with a cap on the maximum available amount. On the other hand, Love Your Block offers a $500 reimbursable mini-grant for neighborhood-centric projects such as community gatherings, space rentals for meetings, neighborhood area cleanups, local libraries, and communal green space initiatives.
The Neighborhood Enhancement Program provides a matching grant of up to $12,500 for groups interested in neighborhood beautification. These funds could be used to create entryway features, upgrade signage, establish a Neighborhood Emergency Response Team, or enhance local parks.
Residents who missed the October workshop needn’t worry—more events are scheduled. The next workshops will be on Nov. 19 at the Lewisville Public Library, 1197 W. Main Street, and Dec. 17 at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.
