The City of Lewisville has announced its intention to seek public feedback on a significant grant application to enhance affordable housing options in the community. If awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) grant could bring $5 million into the city's coffers. This funding is earmarked to address and ideally remove barriers that prevent the expansion of affordable housing in various forms that qualify under the PRO Housing program.
Residents with a stake or interest in the future of affordable housing in Lewisville are encouraged to voice their opinions. As the City of Lewisville detailed, the public hearing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m., during the City Council meeting at Lewisville City Hall, located at 151 W. Church Street. In pursuit of transparency and a wide-reaching consultative process, the grant application will be open for public commentary until Thursday, Oct. 10.
For those unable to attend the meeting in person, the City has made accommodations with an online survey. The details of the application and the accompanying survey can be found on the "Community Development" page on the city's official website, cityoflewisville.com. Moreover, copies of the application are available for review at the Building Inspections counter on the second floor of Lewisville City Hall and at Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 W. Main Street.
Public comments are not only welcomed, but they are also essential for crafting a proposal that accurately reflects the community's needs and aspirations. Grant Coordinator Elena Shehan can be reached via email at [email protected], with additional capacity for input provided to Grants Specialist Rachel Hiles at [email protected].
