Lisa Williams, who serves as the Budget & Special Projects Manager for Charlotte Fire, has been named the 2024 Charlotte Fire Civilian of the Year. Recognized for her fiscal expertise, and dedication, Williams has significantly contributed to managing the department's budget and securing substantial grants, as per an announcement published by the City of Charlotte.
Among her notable achievements this past year, Williams successfully applied for the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant, securing an award of just over $1.2 million for the Fiscal Year 2023. These funds have been important for providing firefighters with new gear and repairing existing equipment. "While our frontline firefighters often receive the recognition they deserve, it's important to acknowledge the exceptional work of our support staff," said Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson, as stated by the City of Charlotte.
Lisa's consistent work on grant applications and financial planning has earned her the Civilian of the Year honor, showcasing the vital role of support staff in firefighting operations.
