Last night, a routine patrol in Livermore took a sharp turn when local police pulled over a vehicle for what might have seemed like a minor infraction. According to their social media post, Livermore Police Department stopped a 2008 white Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 42-year-old Kathleen Cruz of Trulock and her passenger, 46-year-old Timothy Wharff of La Grange, due to expired registration tags. The stop occurred near the 1700 block of North Livermore Avenue.

What started with a simple look inside the Trailblazer's cabin led to a much graver discovery. Having expired registration, the officer at the scene observed a methamphetamine pipe within the center console, indicating possibly more than just a traffic violation. Upon further investigation, Wharff also had an outstanding warrant related to drug charges hailing from Ripon.

With reasonable cause in hand, the officers extended their probe into the vehicle, uncovering narcotics that hold a grim reputation in our streets. The search yielded 23 grams of methamphetamine and 6.1 grams of the highly potent opioid fentanyl, as well as four methamphetamine pipes. Both Cruz and Wharff were arrested on several drug charges, which were not specified in the post.
