Residents in Long Beach have been put on high alert due to a scam involving individuals posing as city workers. According to KTLA, scammers are knocking on doors, claiming to be utility workers, and offering to test water quality or sell water filters and treatment systems.
Long Beach Utilities is taking measures to quell any concerns by reminding its customers to always request identification from anyone claiming to represent the department. The utility company has firmly stated they will never send a representative "to a customers' home to promote/sell residential water filter/treatment systems or offer to test water quality inside their home, without a scheduled appointment," as per a Facebook post from the Long Beach Utilities.
Long Beach Utilities can be reached at 562-570-2390 for additional verification."Please help us in spreading the word!" as stated by Long Beach Utilities.
