
Long Beach homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection with the murder of 43-year-old Ali Phannix, a person experiencing homelessness, as reported in an update from the Long Beach Police Department. Phannix was found dead on August 18, after suffering gunshot wounds.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Hector Perez of Lynwood, was apprehended on October 28, following a thorough police investigation. According, to the Long Beach Police Department, Perez was already in custody on unrelated charges when detectives secured a warrant for his rebooking on murder charges with bail set at $2,050,000. The detained suspect and the deceased were believed to be acquaintances, though the specific motive for the killing remains under active investigation.
