
A gunfire altercation in Long Beach last night has left one man wounded following an attempted robbery, the Long Beach Police Department reported. The incident took place on the evening of Oct. 23, near the 2700 block of Bellflower Boulevard, when a suspect, purportedly armed, engaged in a physical struggle with the male victim, which led to the firearm being discharged and injuring the victim.
According to the LBPD's blotter, the police received a call at around 10:09 p.m. and promptly arrived at a local hospital where the victim had self-transported after the incident. Authorities are actively looking to piece together the full picture of the ordeal in an effort to firmly establish all the facts and to thoroughly apprehend the individual responsible. The suspect is currently at large, and the LBPD is in the process of gathering and verifying suspect information.
The statement released by the police department detailed that "a male adult suspect armed with a firearm, attempted to rob" the victim, followed by a confrontation that caused the gun to go off. The police have yet to reveal any specific details about the suspect's identity but confirmed that the investigation is, indeed, ongoing.
While the wounded man's condition is not immediately clear, the gun wound was described as being to the upper body.
