A man was hospitalized late yesterday after a drive-by shooting incident in the 7900 block of New Kings Road, Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reports that the shooting occurred around 11:49 p.m., where the man, believed to be in his mid-30s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach. First Coast News included that the man was taken to a local hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and is said to be in serious condition.
Details about the shooting reveal that the unidentified man was standing near the roadway when he was approached by a dark-colored sedan. "The initial investigation revealed the victim was standing near the roadway in the 7900 block of New Kings Road when a dark colored sedan approached the victim and fired several times, then fled in an unknown direction of travel," Sergeant Johnson said in a statement obtained by First Coast News. Witnesses to the event or those with any pertinent information are encouraged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
