The fight against the drug overdose epidemic, a vigilant effort to safeguard public health and ensure public safety, continues with the Maple Grove Police Department stepping up to the plate. In an announcement made via social media, local officers will be actively participating in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, setting up at the Walmart in Maple Grove on October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In a bid to effectively fight the prescription medication misuse, and especially to prevent opioid addiction before it can start, the event encourages residents to responsibly dispose of their unused pharmaceuticals. "The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat," conveyed by the Maple Grove Police Department.
However, there are limitations on what can be turned in. Participants need to note that items like Intra-venous (IV) solutions, injectable, and syringes will not be accepted at the take back event.
For those seeking more information—or who may have inquiries about the types of medications that are eligible for the take back—the Maple Grove Police Community Outreach is available to help. Residents can reach out to them at 763-494-6134 or drop an email to [email protected].
