The Memphis Police Department is currently on the hunt for a suspect involved in a burglary at Parkway Village's BP gas station last month, where it's reported that over $20,000 in cash and merchandise were stolen, as stated in a post on the department's official Facebook page and covered by local news outlets. According to WREG, the incident occurred in the early morning of September 27, when officers arrived at the scene after the gas station on Perkins Road was compromised by a man with his identity obscured by a white shirt around his head as described and an additional orange shirt.
The suspect, unidentified by police, made off with the substantial haul and exited the premises in a Chevrolet Malibu, notable for its TN temporary tag and a yellow rope securing its trunk. The vehicle has since been located, but the suspect remains at large. In reporting the crime, FOX13 Memphis details the car's distinct marks and the police department's continued efforts to track down the thief.
While no arrest has yet been made in this ongoing investigation, the Memphis Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. In an appeal for public assistance, they've taken to social media platforms and outlined avenues for anonymous tip submissions, including a direct line to Crime Stoppers and online options as stated on their Facebook page. The department assured tipsters their identity would remain confidential, providing them with a secret ID number to uphold anonymity.
