Communities across the Miami Valley are joining forces with First Financial Bank this October to confront food insecurity. As reported by WDTN, from Oct. 7 through Oct. 25, First Financial Bank will collect canned and nonperishable food items with the help of locals in various branches, including Centerville, Dayton, Edgewood, Huber Heights, Kettering, and Springboro.
"Addressing food insecurity in the neighborhoods we serve is an inspiring goal for us, building on our commitment to help our clients and communities thrive," said Roddell McCullough, chief corporate responsibility officer for First Financial Bank, in a statement obtained by WDTN. Last year's effort brought in 992 items from the Miami Valley alone, contributing to an impactful collective of over 6,600 items across its four-state reach, which includes Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.
The bank's initiative is notable for its focus on rallying the community and directly aiding those facing the hardships of food scarcity. Contributions can be made at any First Financial location, where welcoming bins await passersby's generosity. To partake in the initiative, residents can simply drop off their donations within the specified dates, as noted in the Daily Journal.
Post-collection, First Financial Bank associates will diligently work to deliver these essential goods to local organizations that are equipped to distribute them within the community. The bank embraces the food drive not only as a responsibility but as a celebration of community spirit and mutual support. "Our drives in previous years have always brought so much fun while lifting our neighbors and communities," McCullough told Daily Journal, highlighting the dual nature of the initiative both as a community engagement event and a crucial lifeline for individuals in need.
