A high-speed chase across Northeast Ohio ended in two arrests in Mogadore after law enforcement from multiple counties pursued a vehicle that reached speeds surpassing 100 mph. According to Cleveland19 News, the pursuit began in Mahoning County and was assisted by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The chase engaged various units, including the Portage Aggressive Crime Enforcement Unit (PACE), traversing Suffield Township and Hartville Brimfield Township and finally intercepting the car in Mogadore. The suspect vehicle refused to halt after deputies deployed stop sticks, which punctured the front driver-side tire. Ultimately, a PIT maneuver was necessary to end the chase, as detailed by WKYC Studios.
The intense pursuit forced the use of tactical maneuvers to bring the suspects to a stop, resulting in the arrests of a man and a woman who were promptly taken to Akron City Hospital for precautions and then booked into the county jail.
Officials recovered methamphetamine from the car, and the suspects, unidentifiable in some reports, were later specified as 41-year-old Larry Finch and an unnamed female passenger, "During the pursuit, deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating the left front tire. Troopers rejoined the pursuit, which ended after a PIT maneuver," said Ohio State Highway Patrol in a statement acquired by WKYC. Additional charges are pending as the investigation progresses.
