A family tragedy has unfolded in Montgomery County as law enforcement officials have detained 48-year-old Fabian Newsome in connection to the death of his 88-year-old father, David Newsome. The arrest is linked to an incident that occurred on Monday evening at the family's home in the 12000 block of Sandalwood Lane, according to a statement from the Montgomery County Department of Police.
The grim discovery was made after officers responded to the residence at approximately 6:56 p.m., where they found the senior Newsome deceased with signs of physical trauma. As the investigation unfolded, detectives pointed to the victim's son, who shared the home with his father, as the primary suspect. The motive behind the homicide has not been disclosed at this time.
In the aftermath of the harrowing discovery, David Newsome's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. An autopsy is set to take place to conclusively determine the cause, and manner of death.
Yesterday, Fabian Newsome was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, authorities reported.
