In a significant recovery operation, Sergeant Justin Sternberg of the Moore Police Department used a tip and electronic trackers to locate a tractor-trailer loaded with stolen televisions valued at around $300,000, originally taken from a Texas warehouse. The truck was found abandoned near a Moore business, with the TVs still inside. Sternberg provided details of the operation to KFOR, noting the involvement of a loss prevention representative from LG and a security device within the TVs that was pinging in the area.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, forged shipping documents to take possession of the televisions, according to a report by News9. After receiving an alert from a loss prevention center about the false paperwork, authorities learned that the semi-truck loaded with televisions had already left Texas and entered Oklahoma. However, the Moore Police were able to intercept the stolen cargo through technological assistance and thorough groundwork.

The televisions were bound for a New Jersey Costco from Fort Worth, Texas. Multiple electronic trackers stopped transmitting, covering a radius between 5,000-6,000 meters, which provided a sizable search area for the police. According to what Sternberg told KFOR, this led to the discovery of the trailer behind a business involved in the import and export of large semi-trucks.

Sternberg suspects that the operation is part of a larger organized crime ring, given the sophistication required to create convincing fake shipping documents. "I don’t believe it would be an individual; I would say it’s probably a large organizational thing. We’re not talking one, we’re talking several," he said in a statement obtained by KOCO. Recovered intact, the TVs have since been returned to the rightful company. Authorities continue to investigate, hoping to uncover the scope of this theft operation and apprehend those responsible.
