The Metropolitan Police Department is currently engaged in a homicide investigation following a shooting incident in the Northeast that resulted in a fatality. According to a press release from the MPD, at around 10:00 am on Monday, Sixth District officers received a call regarding a shooting on the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast.

When law enforcement arrived, they discovered an adult male victim who was unconscious, and unresponsive, showing signs of gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid response of DC Fire and EMS personnel, and after all lifesaving efforts failed, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was later identified as 30-year-old Eric Alexander from Hyattsville, MD.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are still unclear, and MPD has not released any information regarding a suspect or potential motive. However, the police department is actively seeking the assistance of the public. They urge anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward. MPD has underscored that individuals should not approach suspects or attempt to take any action on their own, according to the same press release

The police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that can lead to an arrest and successful conviction in connection to the homicide.
