Tragedy struck the City of Napa last Thursday when a man and a woman were fatally shot in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue and Soscol, near an apartment complex during the morning hours, as reported by local authorities. The Napa Police Department was quick to arrive at the scene following the report, which came in around 9:45 AM, where they attempted life-saving efforts but ultimately pronounced both victims dead on-site.
The suspect in the double homicide, 28-year-old Napa resident Baltazar Rangel Juarez, was later seen driving by the Napa PD, which resulted in a police chase after he ignored their emergency signals, was cornered at Kennedy Park and after his vehicle became disabled, he became embroiled in a standoff with law enforcement, according to details from Hoodline.
The standoff, which comprised Juarez arming himself and not complying with law enforcement's commands, culminated in him inflicting a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Based on a report from the City of Napa, he received immediate medical aid and was hospitalized. However, on Wednesday, Baltazar Rangel Juarez succumbed to his injuries connected to the gunshot wound he had inflicted upon himself.
In a post by Henry K. Lee, it was confirmed that Juarez had died after the self-inflicted gunshot. This occurred hours after he had shot and killed his girlfriend, Georgina Padilla, 38, and her attorney, Ralph Andino III, 54. The suspect was initially charged with two counts of 187(a) PC Murder before his demise, as Henry K. Lee posted.
