In a recent effort to mobilize the Diné electorate, Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren has highlighted the urgency for members of the Navajo Nation to take action and vote as Election Day approaches. With the election just 12 days away, the president has underscored the importance of participating in tribal, state, and federal elections. "Tí’, let’s vote," President Nygren said, calling for mobilization among the Diné people to shape the future political landscape, as reported by the Office of the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation.
The races on the ballot this year are crucial, as they will determine the next president of the United States and the federal lawmakers who will shape the nation’s political agenda. "When you’re voting, please remember to look for ballot initiatives and exercise your inherent right to participate in the democratic process at all levels of our tribal and American governments," President Nygren added, according to a statement obtained by the Office of the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation. In Arizona, a key battleground state, the president advised voters on the importance of mailing ballots within 10 days ahead of Election Day or using early voting options if possible.
Important voter information for Arizona residents includes the necessity of an ID when voting, even if they are registered. Those needing to check their registration status or to update their registration details can do so through the Arizona Secretary of State Website and Service Arizona respectfully. If any issues arise during the voting process, Diné voters are encouraged to reach out for assistance to the ASU Native Vote Hotline at 1-888-777-3831.
