As the countdown to Super Bowl LIX continues, New Orleans small businesses are gearing up for a major economic play. With the big game set for February 9, 2025, the NFL and the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee are funneling efforts to ensure underrepresented business owners seize the lucrative potential it presents. Ben Miller, co-founder of the Judy Garlands, captures the sentiment, telling FOX 8 Live, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be in the arena, literally with the NFL and all of the power they have to platform and help other people to get to know each other.”
Evidenced Monday, over 200 business proprietors had the chance to network with NFL executives and showcase their services during an event highlighting the Caesar's Super Dome renovations. In an effort to afford opportunities, historically sidelined demographics were front and center. In a statement obtained by FOX 8 Live, the director of community engagement for the Super Bowl Host Committee, Chincie Mouton noted, "Opportunities like this don’t come often." Indeed, these networking events serve as essential conduits for businesses to enhance their profiles and forge substantial contracts.
For many local business owners, the event was more than just a networking opportunity; it offered a pathway to vital exposure and experience. “I’ve had the opportunity to do two events already and I have another one coming up in two weeks which is gearing to the Source. I am very excited and I’m just overwhelmed,” Pamela Allen, owner of Elite Affairs Event Rentals, expressed to FOX 8 Live. Such testimonials underscore the event's role in empowering businesses and, by extension, the community at large.
Not all gathered business owners will walk away with a deal at the ready. According to a WXXV 25 interview with Super Bowl LIX host committee member Jay Cicero, “Some of them will receive contracts...but some of them will receive contracts through the NFL, through the host committee, or through some other partners that may be involved with the Super Bowl.” Whether contracts materialize or not, association with such a high-profile event may bolster future business prospects significantly.
Businesses affiliated with the Super Bowl LIX Source program not only gain networking avenues with NFL vendors, but also the opportunity to win contracts – a prestigious entry to include in any company portfolio. Jay Cicero, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, says this affiliation can be a game-changer: "To be able to put that on your resume, to be able to say that I did work for Super Bowl 59 or the NFL, that should lead to more business down the road," reported FOX 8 Live.
