A recent press release from the Metropolitan Police Department disclosed that officers are currently investigating a shooting death in Northeast D.C. that took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 1. The incident occurred at about 1:03 p.m. in the 900 block of Eastern Avenue, where a woman was found shot inside a vehicle, she was discovered by law enforcement to be unconscious and unresponsive, and subsequently pronounced dead after DC Fire and EMS were unable to revive her.
Despite efforts by emergency services the individual succumbed to her injuries and has yet to be identified by police. In light of this event, MPD is reaching out to the public for support, offering up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case, the request for public assistance reflects an ongoing challenge faced by the community and law enforcement in addressing and deterring acts of violence.
