
A tragic occurrence played out in Wixom, Michigan, when a 94-year-old driver was involved in a fatal incident that claimed the life of a 59-year-old Novi woman—the crash, which took place on Thursday morning, has left the community in shock. According to ClickOnDetroit, the Novi woman was driving a 2024 Honda CR-V and was stopped in traffic when a 2010 Nissan Versa, driven by the 94-year-old from Milford Township, failed to stop and collided with her vehicle.
Post the initial collision, the Novi woman exited her car, only to have the elderly driver accelerate forward to run over her tragically. As detailed by CBS News Detroit, this second impact pushed the Honda CR-V into a Ford F-350, further complicating the chaotic scene on South Wixom Road at Sams Way. Police have stated that the second acceleration by the 94-year-old driver is not believed to be intentional and that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a part in the incident.
The victim was taken to Ascension Providence Park Hospital in Novi, where she succumbed to her injuries. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office revealed that the 94-year-old driver and the driver of the Ford F-350 were unharmed, and both cooperated with the police throughout their investigation.
