Oahu drivers should prepare for road closures on the westbound H-1 Freeway. The on-ramps at the Airport Viaduct will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday until 1 a.m. on October 28. This is part of Phase 3 of the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct Improvements Project, which includes surveying the concrete deck, repairing defective concrete and bridge joints, and installing temporary striping for future work, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
During the closures, access to the westbound lanes near the Middle Street merge at Keʻehi Interchange will also be unavailable. Motorists will be redirected to Nimitz Highway, allowing them to reach Daniel K. Inouye International Airport or access the westbound H-1 Freeway via the Pearl Harbor Interchange. Additionally, three right lanes on the westbound H-1 Freeway from Keʻehi Interchange to Pearl Harbor Interchange will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday to 1 a.m. on October 28. However, the Nimitz Highway on-ramp to the westbound H-1 Freeway and the westbound Airport off-ramp (Exit 16) will remain open during these closures, as reported by the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
Hawaii Department of Transportation has scheduled night work on the westbound H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct from October 29 to October 31, with lane closures from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. This includes a right lane closure and a full closure of the Airport off-ramp (Exit 16). From 8 p.m. on November 1 to 1 a.m. on November 3, the westbound H-1 Freeway on-ramp from Nimitz Highway will also be fully closed. During this time, two to three left lanes on the westbound H-1 will remain open. Police will be present for traffic control, and first responders have been notified.
