A tragic incident unfolded in Commerce City on Friday night as one person was killed in a rollover crash. As reported by KDVR, the Commerce City Police Department responded to the scene off Quebec Street around 11 p.m. where the driver, reportedly heading north just before 64th Avenue, struck a median and lost control of the vehicle.
According to Denver7, the aftermath of the crash had the pickup truck coming to rest in a field by the roadway. In a misfortunate turn of events, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Police also noted that he was the only occupant inside the vehicle.
This incident was one of two separate fatal accidents that occurred in the Denver and Commerce City areas Friday night and early Saturday morning. In an unrelated incident in Denver, Denver7 outlined a single-vehicle crash that took place sometime after midnight Saturday on northbound Santa Fe Drive and Interstate 25, where a passenger was declared deceased on the scene, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the man killed in the rollover accident. However, the Office of the Coroner of Adams and Broomfield Counties will be tasked with the identification, according to The Denver Post. It's a grim reminder of the unpredictability and the often instantaneous fatal consequences of roadway accidents.
