Tragedy has once again unfolded in a south Phoenix neighborhood, where a shooting has claimed the life of a 29-year-old man and left a 32-year-old woman injured. The incident, which occurred just before 1 a.m. on October 14 near 7th and Southern Avenues, prompted a swift response from the Phoenix Police Department. Officers arriving at the scene found the two gunshot victims, one of whom was pronounced dead on arrival. The woman, despite her injuries, was transported to a hospital and is expected to make a recovery, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
As the investigation progressed, police identified a nearby home where they believed a suspect, or someone connected with the suspect, might have been hiding, which led to officers and SWAT team units to closely guard and eventually breach the residence. Their efforts to quickly apprehend the responsible parties culminated around 7 a.m. with two men being taken into custody., as detailed by the AZ Family.
Brenda, a resident of the afflicted neighborhood, shared her family's close brush with danger, recounting the fear-inducing sound of gunshots and the realization that a stray bullet had traversed her home. "I was just hearing gunshots back and forth, and I heard the car moving, rushing and we met at the hallway and said, I think a bullet went through my wall," Brenda recounted to AZ Family. She described the bullet's path as coming dangerously close to where her daughter would have been sleeping. "Pretty close, if she would’ve been up and walking around she would’ve definitely gotten shot right here," she explained, gesturing to her chest.
