The Arlington Police Department, in collaboration with the US DEA, has announced an upcoming opportunity for residents to rid themselves of potential dangers lurking within their medicine cabinets. On October 26, the community is invited to anonymously dispose of their expired and unused medications at one of four designated collection sites in the area, as part of National Drug Take Back Day, according to the City of Arlington.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a Saturday, individuals can bring their controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter substances, ensuring these drugs do not become a source of accidental overdoses or contaminate the local water supply. The collected items will be safely incinerated, allowing for a responsible and environmentally mindful way to eliminate these substances from homes and our community's ecological footprint.
While the program accepts a variety of pharmaceutical products, including pet medications, liquids in consumer containers, and single-use auto-injectors like EpiPens, there are certain items they won't take. These include intravenous solutions, injections, syringes, and medical equipment, as well as illegal substances and pressurized cartridges such as inhalers.
