The Petaluma Police Department arrested Gabriel Oates on the afternoon of October 8. The arrest stemmed from an investigation into illegal digital images believed to show minors in sexual situations.
Oates was stopped and arrested by PPD detectives on Kenilworth Drive following a tip-off that eventually allowed detectives to establish probable cause quickly. Reports indicate that the images in question involved sexual conduct by persons under 18 years of age. A search warrant later executed at Oates' residence is part of the ongoing probe into the allegations against him, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
The charge against Oates falls under Section 311.11(a) of the California Penal Code, dealing specifically with the possession of sexual images of minors. Following the arrest, Oates was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. The details surrounding the search warrant and any findings at Oates' residence have not been made public.
