The 40th Annual Philadelphia Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week, a vital event for the city's minority business community, was set into motion at the National Constitution Center. The Department of Commerce, alongside city officials and business leaders, facilitated the launch, featuring enriching discussions, networking, and an awards ceremony spotlighting local minority business leaders, as reported by the City of Philadelphia.
Running from October 7 to October 11, this year's MED Week offers over 40 workshops and events seeking to directly bolster businesses and celebrate their achievements. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker expressed her unswerving dedication to uplifting local businesses. She stated, as per the City of Philadelphia, "Throughout my time in City Council and now as Mayor, my mission to uplift our local businesses and ensure access to economic opportunities has never wavered." She affirmed her commitment to "supporting minority-owned enterprises by streamlining processes, expanding resources, and helping entrepreneurs obtain access to capital."
The program offers occasions for minority business owners to engage, including roundtables, expert panels, and networking events. Highlights of the week's schedule include a roundtable with industry experts in marketing and finance, a panel on creating generational wealth, and MED Week's culminating event, a business opportunity forum at the Philadelphia International Airport.
Special acknowledgment is given to this year's MED Week awardees, honoring the pivotal roles they play in the local economy. Among the celebrated were David S. Mirabel, CEO and Founder of Green North Studio LLC, and Jason Ray, Founder and Investment Director of Zenith Wealth Partners.
