
Philadelphia police have announced an arrest warrant for Jaadir Goodwyn, a 20-year-old man connected to a hit-and-run incident that resulted in severe injuries to three nurses and a shooting victim outside Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The incident occurred in the early hours of last Saturday, as reported by FOX 29.
Officials have stated that Goodwyn faces a series of charges, including multiple counts of aggravated assault and other related offenses. As police emphasized the suspect's danger, Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore described the chain of events, explaining how the victims, including the three nurses, were struck by the suspect's vehicle as they attempted to render aid to a 28-year-old gunshot victim, "What they do every day for this community, the lives that they save in this community and the fact that somebody would have the audacity to run over three nurses and severely injure them," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel told FOX 29.
The incident has prompted Penn Presbyterian to revise their emergency response protocols, specifically, ensuring vehicles are turned off and the driver is away from the wheel before staff provides assistance. According to NBC Philadelphia, this decision comes as the hospital officials.
In response to the assault on healthcare workers, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed that the city will not tolerate such acts of violence and lawlessness, "Let me be very clear, we are going to end this culture of lawlessness that has been plaguing our city and it won't stand," Parker stated, as reported by CBS News. Meanwhile, the search for Goodwyn continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to contact Philadelphia Police Department's tipline.
