Pinellas County residents interested in getting involved in their community now have more time to apply for a vacancy on the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (EMSAC). The application deadline has been extended to business hours on November 7, 2024, according to a recent update from Pinellas County. The Council is looking to fill the position of District 3 Citizen Representative, a two-year role that helps shape the county's emergency services.
The vacancy is a critical opportunity for locals to have to directly influence policy and make sure the emergency services in their area are up to the mark. To be eligible, applicants must be registered voters in Pinellas County. While it's not mandatory, it's preferred that the candidate resides in District 3—the very district they would represent if selected. The reason being, besides obviously understanding the community they'd serve, the chosen representative should "represent a balanced cross-section of the population to include business and industry, civic organizations as well as consumers and lay persons," as per Pinellas County's official notice.
