
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently on the lookout for an unidentified suspect involved in a robbery that took place in the U Street corridor of Northwest Washington, D.C. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, left victims without their mobile phones and in shock over the sudden crime.
According to the official police report, a man was robbed outside a business on the 900 block of U Street at approximately 12:00 a.m. The victim, who has not been named for privacy and safety reasons, was holding his phone when it was forcibly taken by the suspect. The perpetrator also grabbing another phone from a nearby table before making a swift exit from the scene. Thankfully, the victims did not suffer injuries during this event.
Police are now turning to the community for assistance and believe that someone may have valuable information leading to the suspect's identification. In their statement obtained by mpdc.dc.gov, the Metropolitan Police Department stressed that witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the incident should not engage the suspect directly, but rather contact authorities immediately.
To support their request for the public’s help, the MPD has announced a reward offer of up to $1,000 for information that results in the arrest and indictment of the individual, or individuals responsible for the robbery.
