A tragedy in Hamtramck this past July took the life of a 3-year-old girl, leading to the recent charge of a school bus driver for his role in the fatal incident. According to WWJ Newsradio, 64-year-old Marvin Flentroy of Pontiac was arraigned last week on charges of reckless driving causing death.
On July 16, Flentroy was driving in the area of Burger and Mackay Streets, near Caniff and Joseph Campau in Hamtramck when the accident occurred. The Wayne Prosecutor's Office announced that the girl, who was crossing the street at the time, was struck by the bus and rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The specific details regarding the speed Flentroy was driving or what constituted his actions as reckless have not been disclosed.
Currently out on a $10,000 personal bond, Flentroy has also been ordered not to drive pending further legal proceedings. As reported by ClickOnDetroit, a probable cause conference is slated for October 24, and a preliminary examination for October 31.
