A local Port Huron resident has struck luck with the Michigan Lottery's $300,000,000 Extraordinaire second chance game. Jami Hawkins, aged 42, won a substantial sum of $100,000 after her entry was drawn on September 10. According to details from a The Times Herald report, the fortunate winner accumulated entries by scanning non-winning lottery tickets using the state's official lottery app.
Initially thinking the winning call was a hoax, Hawkins expressed her disbelief. "I got a voicemail from the Michigan Lottery telling me I won a $100,000 second chance prize, and I thought it was a scam," she recalled, as cited by ClickOnDetroit. She had only occasionally scanned tickets for the $300,000,000 Extraordinaire second chance game, making the win all the more unexpected. It wasn't until after the Michigan Lottery confirmed the legitimacy of her fortune that she began to truly bask in the reality of her prize.
The euphoria of winning has spurred plans for a getaway. "Now that I have claimed my prize, I feel like I can start to really bask in the fun and excitement of winning!" Hawkins mentioned in a statement, as per MI Lottery Connect. Her itinerary includes a trip to a tropical locale, an indulgence made possible by her newfound wealth.
