A 57-year-old Port Huron man is fighting for his life in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning. The incident occurred on Pine Grove Avenue near Elmwood Street, according to Port Huron police. CBS News Detroit reports that the collision happened shortly after 7:30 a.m., and the injured man was promptly taken to the hospital. Authorities have not released the identity of the man who was injured in the accident.
The driver involved in the crash remained on scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement following the incident. According to MLive, the crash led to a temporary closure of Pine Grove Avenue in the vicinity, which is also recognized as an access point for Bluewater Bridge's port of entry.
Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Young told the Times Herald that the police's accident investigation team has reviewed the scene and reopened Pine Grove Avenue since the crash. The victim was initially taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital and later transferred to McLaren Macomb, where he remains in a critical condition.
