The search is on for an armed robbery suspect following a recent heist in Southeast Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department is requesting the public's help in identifying a man who committed a brazen daylight robbery at a local retail store.

According to a release posted on the MPD's website, the robbery occurred on Thursday, October 10, 2024, around 1:34 in the afternoon. The suspect strolled into the business located in the 1300 block of Marion Barry Avenue, Southeast, and, with a gun, coerced one of the store employees before making off with merchandise.

In an effort to catch the suspect, the MPD has disseminated a video from nearby surveillance cameras which shows the suspect's actions during the robbery. The video footage can be viewed on the internet, with the MPD hoping that the community can assist in identifying the perpetrator.

Law enforcement officials urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to refrain from intervening and rather contact the police directly at (202) 727-9099. Alternatively, tips can be submitted via text message to the MPD's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Department is offering a reward "of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia," as noted in the official statement.
