A Southern California man has been placed into custody after the body of his roommate was found in what has been described as a "makeshift grave" in their backyard, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.
The Riverside Police Department arrested Richard Thomas Martinez, age 48, following a search of his residence on Sylvan Drive in the Arlanza neighborhood, when Martinez himself admitted to the killing during an initial investigation, as noted by KTLA.
Authorities were alerted to the situation after the victim, Bradley Minder, age 31, had not been seen or heard from for several days, leading to police involvement and the subsequent grim discovery made with the aid of cadaver dogs, which brought the situation to light and the revelation presented itself, as per FOX LA. The arrest took place on Tuesday evening.
Martinez has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on a murder charge and is being held without bail, as detailed by FOX LA.
