Over the weekend, the quiet streets of Royal Oak were disrupted by the sounds of gunshots and sirens as a high-speed car chase unfolded. According to CBS News Detroit, the Royal Oak Police Department is actively searching for suspects involved in a car chase and subsequent shooting incident. The chaotic scene, following a flight from a nightclub in Birmingham, Michigan, led to a Rolls-Royce being fired upon near 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, the report detailed.

The incident was first reported after two men left a nightclub and were driving south on Woodward Avenue in a Rolls-Royce. It escalated to quickly become a pursuit through city streets, as the victims in the Rolls-Royce chased the assailants' Dodge Charger, amidst urging from police dispatchers to stop for their own safety. "We got a call from a very frantic person saying that he was just shot at," Lt. Rich Millard, Royal Oak Police Department’s public information officer, said, as per CBS News Detroit.

As recounted by FOX 2 Detroit, the chase culminated in the Charger driving into a cul-de-sac on Lauren Court, subsequently crashing into a backyard and forcing the suspects to flee on foot. The Dodge Charger, later uncovered to have been stolen from Rochester Hills, was recovered, yet the assailants remained at large.

Although no bystanders or vehicle occupants were reportedly injured, the Rolls-Royce sustained visible damage from gunfire. Lt. Rich Millard detailed in a statement obtained by ClickOnDetroit that the luxurious car had "several bullet holes in it." The motive behind the shooting and the chase that followed remains unclear, with Millard noting, "Some things still don't make sense." The investigation continues as police utilize K-9 units and drones to canvass the area for clues.
