In a recent string of events in San Antonio, a group of six dogs, now termed as "dangerous," have been euthanized post their involvement in an attack on a woman and a San Antonio Police cruiser. According to information released by Animal Control Services, the incident occurred early in September near West Southcross Boulevard and Somerset Road, with the dogs having escaped from their yard, leading to the unfortunate events.
The situation escalated when the dogs, while free from their confinement, bit a woman in her leg and proceeded to assault a police vehicle, resulting in visible damage. FOX San Antonio obtained footage showing the dogs aggressively jumping on and biting the police car. Despite measures to secure the dogs, including a fence and an additional enclosure at the owner’s property, the owner admitted to the news outlet that the dogs routinely managed to navigate their way out.
Neighbors had previously recorded the canines on several occasions as they roamed the vicinity, chasing individuals on bikes and wandering near local businesses. News 4 San Antonio reports that prior to this incident, the dogs’ owner had been issued several citations relating to the dogs' behavior.
In the aftermath, Animal Control Services has acted by euthanizing the dogs involved. To report a dangerous dog in the San Antonio area, residents can call 311 or 210-207-6000, or visit SA.gov/ACS for more information. In cases where a dangerous dog poses an immediate threat to life, the public is urged to contact 911 directly.
