The streets of San Bernardino and its neighboring cities have seen increased police activity as part of a dedicated effort to suppress crime, according to a report released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Between October 11th and October 18th, 2024, law enforcement agencies conducted Operation Consequences, a multi-agency effort focused on curbing violent crimes and dismantling gangs involved in illegal weapons and drug trafficking.
During the operation, nearly a dozen felony arrests were made alongside 18 misdemeanors, with 10 firearms, including one ghost gun, being seized. The operation stretched across several blocks in cities like Chino, Fontana, and Bloomington. Agencies involved in the collaborative effort included local police departments, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, as well as Department of Homeland Security Investigations. Funds for the operation were provided by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, aiming to address quality-of-life issues through enhanced law enforcement services.
In a single week of concentrated efforts, investigators also confiscated illegal narcotics and marijuana across the targeted locations. These operations serve as part of Operation Consequences' broader agenda, which, over the coming months, plans to perform parole and probation checks, especially in areas plagued by street gang violence and criminal activities related to firearms.
Public safety initiatives such as these reflect the county's proactive stance against crime, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. The holistic approach not only involves immediate arrests and seizures but also targets the root causes of crime by disrupting the networks that foster these illegal activities.
