The San José Police Department recently concluded a series of investigations that led to the arrest of a San José resident for his alleged involvement in multiple armed robberies. According to the San José Police Department, 31-year-old Luis Garcia became a suspect following a detailed analysis of the evidence from the scene of an August robbery. Officers initially responded to a call on August 16, when an armed robbery transpired at a business on East San Salvador Street.
The incident involved an argument between Garcia and a store employee, followed by Garcia's attempt to exit the premises with unpaid alcoholic beverages quickly. The altercation escalated when the suspect brandished a firearm from his waistband after the victim tried to halt his departure. The suspect ultimately escaped before police arrived at the scene. The SJPD later connected Garcia to another September 19 incident where a similar modus operandi was employed at a business on Fruitdale Avenue. In this encounter, Garcia again had to swiftly leave after pilfering a bottle of alcohol, flashing a gun at employees who confronted him outside before he fled in a vehicle.
A series of decisive actions by the SJPD Robbery Unit, supported by evidence from patrol officers, culminated in an arrest and search warrant for Garcia. Capitalizing on this breakthrough, the SJPD Covert Response Unit managed to locate and apprehend Garcia last Wednesday within the city.
During the subsequent execution of the search warrant at Garcia's residence, detectives discovered a privately made firearm along with narcotics prepped for sale. Garcia was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail, facing serious charges, including those for armed robbery. The police statement notes that anyone with further information about these cases is encouraged to reach out to Detective Hernandez through various channels provided by the department.
