Chaos unfolded at the Santa Rosa Transit Mall, where a fight among multiple juveniles prompted police intervention, leading to the arrest of a 16-year-old male yesterday. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the teenager was found to have a loaded .380 handgun after a foot chase that began near the site of the disturbance.
At about 12:31 pm, Santa Rosa Police received reports of the altercation involving a group of juveniles, including a female allegedly armed with a knife. An officer from the Downtown Enforcement Team (DET), tasked with responding to the incident, attempted to immediately stop one of the males matching the description of those involved. Still, the teen instead chose to run away hastily. In doing so, he led the officer on a pursuit that would quickly end inside a public parking structure on First Street.
The chase culminated with the 16-year-old being detained inside Garage 12 at 555 First Street. A search conducted by the DET officer unearthed a loaded handgun concealed within a satchel the juvenile was wearing. The weapon was reportedly ready to fire, with a laser and tactical light attached. The teenager now faces multiple charges, including carrying a loaded gun in public and resisting an officer.
