On Monday morning, Seattle Police Department officers were dispatched to the Rainier Beach area after a report of a horse on the loose. The incident occurred in the 9600 block of Beacon Avenue South, where the runaway stallion, marked by its dark brown coat and matching mane and tail, had taken to wandering the streets.
After failing to get a response from the SPD Mounted Patrol and finding Seattle Animal Control currently indisposed, officers developed a strategy to safely corral the horse without any undue delay. Without hesitation, they tracked the equine, managing to avoid a wild chase by carefully following the animal as it moved unimpeded along the fence line.
Eventually, they were able to guide the horse into a nearby pasture, a feat achieved with equal parts patience and gentle coercion. Their next step was a door-to-door search to locate the horse's owner. "Officers walked the area knocking on doors to locate the owner," recounted by the Seattle Police Department.
The animal was safely returned, and what could have been a danger to itself and motorists early that morning ended with no reported injuries.
