The City of Seattle has launched its Technology Matching Fund (TMF), making $455,000 available to nonprofit organizations working to enhance digital access and literacy. Individual grants of up to $45,000 are being offered to support projects aimed at reducing barriers to technology and improving connectivity for underserved communities. Applications will be accepted until December 16, according to Seattle Information Technology.
Eligible projects may involve the provision of digital navigator services that offer personalized support to residents, the development of digital literacy workshops and training programs, the distribution of devices and technical assistance to those in need, and efforts to improve internet connectivity, including the expansion of Wi-Fi access or the implementation of affordable solutions for low-income households.
A key requirement for applicants is a 25% community match, which can be fulfilled through volunteer hours, staff time, financial contributions, or in-kind donations.
To support applicants through the process, the city is offering virtual information sessions led by staff from the Digital Equity Program. These sessions will provide detailed guidance on the application process and answer any questions from prospective applicants.
