
A tragic solo vehicle collision claimed the life of a local man on Monday on Point Reyes Petaluma Road. The Marin County Sheriff's Office released a statement identifying the deceased as Djakari Rashawn Pariani-Tompkins, a 29-year-old with ties to both Petaluma and San Rafael.
According to the authorities, the accident took place approximately at 3:40 PM, when Pariani-Tompkins, who was headed westbound in a 2001 Ford Expedition, lost control of the vehicle. It rolled onto its roof near McEvoy Ranch in the Chileno Valley area. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time and was partially ejected from the vehicle, becoming entrapped underneath. While the front-seat passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, managed to escape with no mention of his condition. Emergency services arriving at the scene discovered Pariani-Tompkins unresponsive. They pronounced him dead without attempting resuscitation due to the severe nature of his injuries.
The Sheriff's Office's postmortem exam was conducted yesterday, with toxicology tests to follow. Their findings will reveal more about the circumstances leading to this fatal incident. The official cause and manner of death remain pending investigations by both the California Highway Patrol – Marin Office and the Marin County Sheriff's Office - Coroner Division, which are currently active and ongoing.
