
Spirit Airlines is expanding their presence at San Antonio International Airport with the announcement of a new nonstop flight to the bustling Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, starting April 9, 2025. Passengers can expect this daily service to link them with the world's busiest airport, adding another transit option alongside current offerings from Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines, according to the City of San Antonio's.
"In less than two years at SAT, Spirit has provided more opportunities for people to fly affordably," said Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports, City of San Antonio Aviation Department. Striving to enhance connectivity and tourism, Saenz emphasized, "Our travelers have benefitted from their low fares, and they’ve helped bring in more visitors to our city. Spirit’s success is helping our airport and region thrive." In a statement obtained by the City of San Antonio's official website, details of the flights' schedule were confirmed, including departure and arrival times.
The new flight schedule to Atlanta demonstrates Spirit's commitment to providing high-value travel options. Flights will depart San Antonio at 12:16 p.m. and reach Atlanta by 3:41 p.m., while return flights will see wheels up from Atlanta at 10:06 a.m. and touching down back in San Antonio at 11:26 a.m. This announcement arrives just in time for travelers making early plans for their spring and summer voyages next year, as per the City of San Antonio.
Celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Mardi Gras, Spirit will add special service to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport between February 20 and March 9, 2025. Said to be excited by the seasonal tradition, John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, is quoted by the City of San Antonio's aviation department, "Our new daily flight connecting San Antonio and Atlanta provides a high-value option between the two metro cities and adds a seventh destination to our SAT route map next spring." These flights will depart SAT at 11:30 a.m., landing in New Orleans by 12:55 p.m., with the return flight taking off at 1:45 p.m. and arriving back at 3:15 p.m.
Local excitement for these new routes isn't shy, as evidenced by Jacob Tyler, Air Service Administrator, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, who remarked on the opportunities these flights present for those ready to participate in New Orleans' historic celebrations.
