A St. Louis man has admitted guilt after being caught with guns and drugs following a pursuit by law enforcement. Perry A. McCoy, 33, confessed to charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, as announced in a news release from the United States Attorney's Office.

On a day in late October last year, McCoy was seen by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department engaging in what appeared to be a drug transaction after he quickly entered and left a residence that was scheduled for a court-ordered search. After leaving the gas station where the transaction took place, McCoy sparked a police chase by driving away in a red Dodge Charger. After running over the first set, McCoy made a U-turn and crashed the Charger after being hit by a Toyota Tacoma, as stated by the  United States Attorney's Office.

McCoy tried to run away but was eventually caught by the police. During the chase, he discarded a bag with methamphetamine. After searching the crashed vehicle, officers found three Glock pistols and various drugs, including about 16.10 grams of cocaine base, 2.33 grams of meth, and a jar with 47.53 grams of tetrahydrocannabinol. According to the United States Attorney's Office, the firearm charge may result in up to 15 years in prison, while the drug charge could lead to up to 20 years. McCoy's sentencing is set for January 15, 2025.
