
A serious collision in Sterling Heights this past Saturday has resulted in critical injuries for two teenagers and lesser injuries for two adults. According to ClickOnDetroit, the incident occurred at 6:36 p.m. at the intersection of 18 Mile and Pickett Ridge roads where a Mustang, containing the two 17-year-olds, collided with a RAM pickup, setting off a fire that required witnesses to intervene and rescue the car occupants.
The teenagers, who remain in critical condition were in an orange Mustang, lost control as they headed west on 18 Mile Road and collided with a silver pickup traveling in the opposite direction, investigators at the scene have cited the weather as a likely contributing factor in the crash, alcohol and drug use have been ruled out as causes for the incident. In a statement obtained by WXYZ, a local resident, Ameer Hameed, recounted the immediacy of the situation, saying, "We pull them out, they have five seconds, if we don’t take them out, the car burn, was big fire."
All four individuals involved were swiftly taken to a hospital where the teens' injuries were considered life-threatening; meanwhile, the two 25-year-old adults from the pickup truck are expected to recover from their minor injuries, this account is corroborated by FOX 2 Detroit.
