
Delaware State Police have confirmed the arrest of 24-year-old Deante Massenburg in connection with a September robbery. The incident, which took place at Tacos Chabelita in Laurel, involved a male suspect assaulting victims and forcibly removing money from the establishment, as reported by the Delaware State Police's official website.
On the night of September 8, 2024, a robbery unfolded at the restaurant located at 30661 Sussex Highway. According to the state police, the suspect also caused property damage, including broken windows and a damaged vehicle in the parking lot, and used a hammer to further assault a victim. Despite their efforts to swiftly find the suspect, police were initially unable to locate him on the night of the crime.
It wasn't until detectives used investigative means that they were able to identify Massenburg as the suspect. Following this, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Massenburg was arrested on September 17, 2024, in New York and subsequently extradited to Delaware on October 2, 2024. Upon his return to Delaware, he faced multiple charges, including second-degree robbery and assault.
Massenburg has rapidly been processed through the legal system. After his extradition, he was taken to Troop 4, charged with counts including Robbery 2nd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $29,300 cash bond.
