A suspect has been captured in connection with a fatal Northeast shooting that left one woman dead inside a vehicle. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the apprehension of 48-year-old Wyatt Michelin Swan, who is being charged with the murder of 53-year-old Teresa Francisco. On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 1, police were called to the scene in the 900 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast, where Francisco was found with gunshot injuries. Efforts to save her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the location.
According to the Metroplotan Police Department's press release, Swan was apprehended a day later on Wednesday, October 2, in Prince George’s County, with the aid of the local police and the City of Bowie Police Department. He was wanted under a DC Superior Court arrest warrant on a First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated) charge. Swan will now likely have to face an extradition process.
The subsequent investigation into the incident suggested a domestic component to the crime. Detectives have determined that Swan and the victim, Francisco, were romantically involved. Details of the nature of the relationship or the motives for the shooting have not been released. The Metropolitan Police Department has expressed gratitude towards the Prince George's County law enforcement partners for their assistance with the case.
Details regarding Swan's extradition and subsequent legal proceedings are expected to unfold in the coming days.
