Oakland has been gripped by a series of armed robberies targeting local businesses, with one suspect now facing a host of charges. Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price has filed twelve felony charges against 21-year-old Xavier Massey, who is accused of committing multiple armed robberies in August and September of this year. Massey could be looking at nearly 14 years behind bars if convicted on all counts.

The charges against Massey include five counts of felony second-degree robbery and various firearms offenses. According to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, the alleged crime spree includes a brazen daytime robbery at a Cricket Wireless store on August 30, where Massey supposedly flashed a gun to the clerk. Officials say an hour later, a street vendor was robbed of goods and cash at gunpoint. The alleged intimidation and theft pattern continued in the following days at various other businesses, including a McDonald's and a La Raza Market.

"Targeting businesses and their employees who are just trying to earn a living for themselves and their families will not be tolerated in Alameda County," the Alameda County DA Pamela Price stated, as per the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. "Using a gun to commit robberies adds an additional layer of danger to the employer, the workers, and their customers. My office will continue to hold people accountable for committing these crimes in our community."
